A prayer initiative of Covenant Community Church!
We have a desire to be in touch with any who are interested in forming a relationship with God, with any who want to know more about Jesus. Before someone comes to know Jesus, usually the first thing they know they need is help from God. Seeking help from God acknowledges his existence, his power, his hoped-for interest in us.
So a person may ask for prayer. They may not know that they can speak directly to God themselves. They know that there is no relationship with God in their lives, but that you have such a relationship, that God will listen to you as you pray for them. Maybe the person has no church home. When you pray with an unchurched person for an urgent need to be met, that prayer may be the beginning the Lord will use to draw that person to himself.
Your interest in their need demonstrates God’s interest in their need. This is an important first thing to know about God: he is interested in your need. He is interested in you.
We set up in a highly visible location:, using a banner, signs, people, flags, whatever. We pray with someone who drives up. Each encounter is a divine appointment. We get their name and either an email address or phone number so we can follow up. We give them a “take away,” a small bag of pertinent things.
Why? It is fun to see the Lord bless people with an answer to prayer. It is a privilege to bless unchurched people with an encounter with God.
